It’s that time of the year again. February is the Road Rage month for the Sigma Betans. Now on it’s 8th year, the transport show is one of the most anticipated activities during UPLB’s February Fair.

Student Union Parking Lot, UP Los Baños, Laguna

In the context of the Philippine society, we associate cars, motorbikes, hoppers as toys for the big boys. But for 8 consecutive years now, the UP Sigma Beta Sorority is living proof that we stand out among the rest for we have, and still continue to initiate original activities such as the Road Rage Series which educate motorists, entertain spectators, and show that Sigma Betans are trained to be competitive, assertive, and flexible.

The Road Rage Series was conceptualized on February, 2002. The UP Sigma Beta Sorority is the pioneer of such activity in Los Baños. For its first 3 years, it only catered to customized cars. But last 2005, the show opened to 2-wheeler vehicles such as motorcycles and scooters. This year, we are adding hoppers to our list of competitors. Participants usually come from the Southern Luzon area and some parts of Manila.

Annually, numerous entries flock within the parameters of the SU Parking lot showing off their wheels and vying for the grand prize. This attracts an average of 500-700 spectators per show, both young and old.

Last year, the 7th Road Rage was held at the SU Parking Lot, University of the Philippines, Los Baños. It was handled by Katrina Umandap. What a success! All the participants, expectators, and even the Sigma Betans had fun during the show. Over 120 cars and 40 motors participated on the said event. The judges can hardly choose the winners of each category. Some of them were Bryan Revilla, Vice Mayor Martin Illagan of San Pablo City, Mr. John Hernandez of Good Year Philippines, and Mr. Norman Agojo of Normanworks. We had DB Sport Loudmatch, Good Year, Normanworks Custom Paint Shop, Meguiars, Honda Cars, Topwheels Motorlandia, Home Cable Laguna, Toyz Magazine, Spotlight TV, Samba, Yamaha, Citibike Suzuki, Red Gloves Boxing Club, Splash Mountain, Bonitos, Infinite, Boston Café, Corner Café and Snacks, Ministop, Fern-C, Nature Spring and Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. as the sponsors of the event.
